Updating drivers licence
If mailing a check, please call your local TN county clerk's office to confirm who to make the check payable to.If you have legally changed your name, you'll need to visit your local Driver Services Division office in person.To replace your TN driver's license or ID card online, visit the Tennessee Driver Services Division website.You'll need to provide: Your new TN driver's license or ID will arrive in the mail within 20 business days.If you need to change the address on your title and registration, contact your local county clerk's office.If you've just moved to Tennessee and have an out-of-state driver's license, you must apply for a TN driver's license within 30 days.If your TN driver's license or ID expires within 6 months, you must renew.To renew your TN driver's license, please see our page on Renewing Your License in Tennessee.
If the Social Security Number is not already part of the driver record, you must provide documents to verify your Social Security Number.
For a new TN driver's license or ID card with your new Tennessee address printed, it will cost you the following fees.
TN DOS and DOR offices accept cash, checks, money orders, and Master Card, VISA and Discover credit and debit cards.
You can change your address online, by mail, or in person.
You are not required to get a new TN driver's license or ID, however if you'd like a replacement card, see the “Renew or Replace Your TN Driver's License/ID" section below.
